Every site we move from WordPress to Astro is measured before and after with the same Google Lighthouse tests. Here are the numbers, including the ones that got worse.

- Best practices first measured 92 on every page: our own security policy blocked Cloudflare’s analytics script. Fixed the same day; the home page re-measured at 96.
- Home page layout shift on desktop first measured 0.09 as the web font loaded. Fixed the same day; re-measured 0.

- The home page on phones improved least (70 to 72): the hero image and the large mascot art are the next things to optimize, then these numbers get re-run.
- Two pages got slightly heavier because the new site adds Google Analytics 4, which the WordPress site did not have.
- The WordPress site was measured at its own server, not through its CDN, so its images may have loaded a little slower than visitors saw. A cross-check through the CDN the day before still showed the home page at 54 on phones.
- The new site also fixed the estimate form (broken on WordPress), page titles that read "- WordPress", and added five service pages.
How we measure
Same tests, same pages, before and after
- Google Lighthouse 13 lab tests, run three times per page and device; we report the median.
- The WordPress site is measured before the switch, then the same pages are measured on the new Astro site.
- Lab tests are not real visitors. Real-visitor data from Google takes about 28 days to catch up, and we add it when it does.
- Numbers that got worse stay on this page, marked in red.
